Recently, I took the time to really look around UCS’s Web site, and I found some pretty neat stuff. It took some digging, though, so I’m guessing a lot you of haven’t had the time to dig quite so deep. Here are some of my favorites:
- Handout Library – Use your PID to enter. Once you’re there, you’ll find information on everything from taking time off after graduation and appropriate interview attire to “what can I do with a major in…” sheets. Definitely worth a look.
- UCS Resource Room Online Catalog – UCS has a resource room open from 8am to 5pm every day. The catalog helps you save time and peruse the selection before you head to campus. Search by title or keyword, or browse by subject area. They have a much larger selection of career-related books than any of the local bookstores.
- Carolina Connection – If you know what field you’d like to go into, where you’d like to work, or want to set up an informational interview with someone in a given industry, this is a great resource. You can search Carolina alumni by geographic area, major and industry (among others). These are alumni that have signed up specifically to network with UNC students, so it’s a safe contact and an easy way to start building your non-Facebook network. UCS has even put together correspondence examples to help you get off on the right foot.
